What detailing apps cost — and what they actually do

Booking software, ops platforms, marketplaces. Only one of them is trying to grow your business.

If you detail cars for a living, you have probably seen ads for three or four different apps this month. They all promise to organize your business. Almost none of them promise to grow it.

Here is the honest breakdown of what each one costs, what you actually get, and which makes sense for the stage your business is in.

The question nobody asks out loud

Booking software solves a real problem. If you are juggling twenty customers over WhatsApp and a paper notebook, a calendar with deposits attached is worth paying for.

But look at what you are actually buying: a nicer way to manage the customers you already found yourself. The scheduling, the reminders, the payment link — none of it puts a new car in your driveway. You still post on Instagram, comment in Facebook groups, and hope somebody calls.

Booking apps and ops platforms are tools. Detailers is a marketplace. Tools organize the work you find. A marketplace sends you the work.

Booking software — around $20/month

A booking-link product: a public page for your business, online scheduling, deposits, a client list, and card payments on your phone. The free tier caps at 5 lifetime bookings, so realistically you are on the $20 plan.

Good forA detailer with steady repeat clients who just wants to stop answering the same DMs.
Not forAnyone who needs more customers. Their directory is a small SEO page, not a demand engine.

Full ops platforms — around $59/month

The most expensive of the three. Scheduling, routing, SMS credits (50/month on the base plan), and payment collection. Well built — and priced like enterprise software for a one-van operation.

Good forEstablished shops running several vans, where operational chaos costs more than $59/month.
Not forSolo detailers. That is $708 a year before you wash a single car.

We built the opposite model. Nothing to be on the platform: no monthly fee, no subscription, no setup cost. You only pay when you complete a paid job.

15% on your first 5 jobs. After that it is 20%, and it comes back down as you build volume and rating — 17% at 25 jobs, 15% at 75, 12% at 150. You pay it only on the jobs we send you.

Doing the math

Say you complete 12 jobs a month at an average of $150.

Ops platform$59every month, even a slow one. You found all 12 customers.
Booking app$20every month. Same — you found all 12.
Detailers$0if you booked all 12 through your free page. Send 4 of them our way and you pay $120 — on $600 you would not have earned.

That is the honest trade-off. A flat fee costs you money in slow months. Commission only costs you when you are earning.

Can you use more than one?

Yes, and plenty of detailers do. If your operation already runs on a booking app, keep it. Adding a free Detailers profile costs nothing and gives you another source of jobs. The only thing you lose by not being on it is the bookings that go to someone else in your zone.
